Tarantula on my BIKE!!!
The thoughts I will share
les choses que je vais faire
yay so I’m back. i think. i went to start a dear, but found such apps costed money, of which i have none. so i will continue to disseminate wonderful snippets of literature, visual aids, and harmonious tunes to my own delight!.
Today:
I found a tarantula on my bike! It had green eyes, grey and black hairs, and a yellow halo on its back. It was stubborn to scamper away, and I had to to flick and nudge it away, dropping my bike in the excitement and walking away amazed. and itchy.
I saved a baby bird. It happened to enter Skirkanich Hall in the engineering quad and came right to the edge of floor to ceiling glass, where its mother flapped in panic and anxiety tapping the glass with frustration. rescue mission. A recycle bin and a sheet of acrylic. I scooped and secured the baby bird that could not yet fly, but could bite/peck. I brought it outside under the watch of the custodian i’ve always passed in the hall and restrained from conversation. we spoke about it. he said it was my daily good deed. i was happy. to have talked to him. no picture for this :(
I played lots of soccer at Penn Park with Mike Lautman. It was really fun despite the carrying levels of aptitude int he sport amongst the participants. I just wanted to get out and run around. today was cardio day and i felt my lungs grow.
found lots of free food for the soul.
Öperek uyandırdım bu sabah ayrılığı…
Fırından yeni çıkan bekleyişler satın aldım..
Kırmızı mavi ekoseli yalnızlığımı serdim masaya…
Manzaraysa ayrılığa sıfır!
İşte her şey hazır..
Acılarımla iki lafın belini kırdık…
Yokluğunda bir kuş sütü eksik..
Yalnızlığım ve ben…
Seni çok bekledik…

Today was another day and tomorrow will be our last on the site. We were able to tack most of the plywood board on the third layer with the help of harnesses attached to the topmost peak of the house. Just as rock climbers do eight of us dangled from green braided ropes tailing behind us and over the ledge down a fifteen foot drop. I was glad to form a strong team with Shawn as he realized finally that I was indeed able to successfully wield a hammer. Lindsey and I met neighborhood children visiting their cousins next door our site. Tamia and Richard claimed to be off from school today and perpetually dashed up and down the semi paved asphalt road on three legged scooters that enabled drifting and maneuvers previously unheard of it the realm of scooter technology :) while the other members played frisbee or sat around we made good friends and learned many things from them. Richard wants to be a lawyer, entrepreneur, and something I cannot remember. He plays the tenor drum now, but misses the days he played the snare. He is very talented in sports and can perform spontaneous acts of dexterity: summersaults cartwheels handstands. Tamia was a little sweetheart counting off her cousins names and making sure to question us and what we were doing here. I taught her to roll her sunglasses and give a wink and have her piggyback rides. This we did instead of taking our usual break around the neighborhood. Also, they mentioned they lives in the eight ward.
The French Quarter in New Orleans is amazing. Very European with open air cafes and music. As the big bands played on local urbaners and tourists gathered to bounce around in the crisp night sky. Sunday is going to be a great day. I cannot wait. Quick notes to remember: blood oranges, palerines, serenading worms, etc. there is so much I don’t want to write up here it kills me, but I’ll share pics at least and maybe some peons if I can into the groove again
Today was my first day on site and I just wanted to take note a few things…
It was an interesting feeling to finally foresee friendship by sheer happenstance/coincidence. Campers befriend other campers by surprise, realizing finally that they’ve ultimately made an unbreakable bond with the larger group they initially judged and were hesitant to approach.
I don’t know if it’s built wisdom (most likely not) but from the moment I met the other Alternate Winter Break members in the lobby or Harrison college house and we embarked on our trip, I knew we would be best friends and now I withhold such expectations. I don’t know honestly if it will have the same odd satisfaction of the discovery but so far I cherish my friends here and we make each other better. I’m sure of that.
See a small picture I took. An angle/vista you can only get nailing in plywood planks on a roof in the deep south…
